ASHE Certifications and Qualifications for Health Care Facility, Construction, and Design Professionals

ASHE recommends a certified and qualified team

Working in a health care facility is different from working in any other environment. To develop leaders in facility management and construction who understand the complexity of health care facilities, ASHE offers trainings and preparation resources for these professional certifications: Certified Health Care Constructor (CHC), Certified Health Care Facility Manager (CHFM), the Mechanic Evaluation and Certification for Health Care (MECH) and the Senior Mechanic Evaluation and Certification for Health Care (SRMECH).

Click below to learn more about each certification, or view this chart showing which certification may be right for you.

ASHE also offers several narrower scope programs for Qualification in specific protocols and processes like our Health Care Physical Environment Worker Qualification, ASHE ICRA 2.0™ Qualification, and Door Inspection and Maintenance Qualification.

What is the difference between an AHA Certification and an ASHE Qualification?

AHA Certification

  • Verify that the health care professional has met national performance standards specific to their role
  • Demonstrate a high level of proficiency in designated field
  • Backed by the American Hospital Association

ASHE Qualification

  • Ensure you and your team are qualified to perform specific processes and procedures like fire door inspection or ICRA
  • Show AHJs and administrators that your team has the training and know-how to maintain the highest patient safety standards
  • Backed by the American Society for Health Care Engineering

AHA Certifications

Both clinical and non-clinical staff greatly impact the safety and quality of care patients receive. Earning a certification from the American Hospital Association demonstrates to patients, health care organizations, and the public, that the health care professional has met national performance standards specific to their role.
