2013 Crystal Eagle Leadership Award
DOUGLAS S. ERICKSON
The Crystal Eagle Award is presented annually to an ASHE member whose contributions have affected the health care facility management profession and made a difference to the Society. Often referred to as “ASHE’s lifetime achievement award,” this award recognizes those who have been instrumental in the creation and optimization of healing environments.
This year’s Crystal Eagle recipient is Douglas S. Erickson, FASHE, CHFM, HFDP, CHC, president of TME, Inc. For more than 38 years, Erickson has been a driving force in bringing about comprehensive improvements to the health care physical environment through his leadership on national standards organizations.
Erickson is a co-founder of the Facility Guidelines Institute, a not-for-proἀt organization with a mission of advancing quality health care by guiding the development of the health care built environment. He currently serves as chairman of the committee that develops the national standard, Guidelines for Design and Construction of Health Care Facilities. In his previous roles as director of design and construction with tfhe American Hospital Association and deputy executive director of ASHE, Erickson has been a longtime teacher, mentor, and advocate for the health care field.
