Crystal Eagle Leadership Award
GEORGE L. THOMAS, FASHE, CHFM
Retired
Piscataway, NJ
George began to his career as an hourly employee in the Housekeeping Department, then moved to the Engineering Department as an hourly employee, where he obtained his Stationary Engineers License and a New Jersey State Electrical Contractors License. From there, George took on more leadership roles in health care facility management, and later in life, in health care compliance. During his 50+ years of service in the health care field, George not only served the health facilities and organizations that he worked for, but also gave back to the entire field by volunteering his time with ASHE and his local chapter, the Healthcare Facilities Management Society of New Jersey. On top of being a lifetime ASHE member, George served as an ASHE Board Member from 1993-1996, served on several ASHE committees, and was the HFMSNJ President for two terms. In his personal life, George serves his church as a member of the Board of Trustees where he is an integral part of the Facilities Committee.
George’s passion for the health care facility management field and tireless pursuit to give back and share his knowledge has made ASHE proud to name him the 2018 Crystal Eagle Leadership Award recipient.
