The President’s Award is presented at the discretion of the sitting ASHE president to an individual who has made significant contributions to the health care facility management profession and has gone above and beyond the call of duty in an effort to optimize the health care physical environment. Arthur D. Kjos, AIA, NCARB, FASHE, principal at Clark/Kjos Architects in Portland, Ore., is the recipient of the 2013 President’s Award. ASHE President Mark A. Kenneday, MBA, CHFM, FASHE, said Kjos provides solutions that transcend architectural requirements while working alongside engineering teams to ensure that infrastructure needs are also met with cutting edge solutions. Kenneday said Kjos is a fantastic listener who offers insightful, stimulating, and thought-provoking ideas. Kjos brings a sense of enthusiasm and cooperation to his work with ASHE, Kenneday said. “He understands that we need a sense of hope and healing in the design of our buildings and these intangibles must be delivered in a sustainable and energy-efficient design,” Kenneday said. “His customers have benefited from his collaborative spirit and their facilities are both aesthetically and functionally superior.” |
