Description
In partnership with the AIA-AAH Codes and Standards Committee, this session will provide an overview to the regulations, codes and standards associated with health care facilities and how they apply to specific business models. Multiple occupancies located in the same facility, vertical openings, multiple licensed facilities located in the same building, and hospital outpatient departments (HOPDs) are a few of the specific situations that will be discussed. The full spectrum of health care facility compliance from initial design, permitting and construction through continued occupancy, performance and compliance will be addressed.
Learning Objectives:
- Discuss how regulations, codes and standards specific to health care design interdependently apply for each type of facility/business model
- Explore different design opportunities in the health care environment and how the applicable codes will affect that design.
Gain insights on where and why specific regulations are applied, from design to construction to survey - Discover some of the most commonly misunderstood code requirements in health care facilities
- Engage with some of the major differences between health care regulations, codes and standards and potential solutions for compliance.
