CHICAGO – NewYork-Presbyterian won the 2018 Excellence in Health Care Facility Management Award for its water safety management program, which helps protect vulnerable patients from waterborne hazards. The award, presented by the American Society for Health Care Engineering (ASHE) of the American Hospital Association, was announced during National Health Care Facility and Engineering Week October 21-27.
NewYork-Presbyterian created an enterprise-wide water management program that incorporates real-time data management and analytics tools. These tools allow the hospital to respond to information about its water systems, which serve more than 4,069 licensed beds in ten campuses over approximately 15 million square feet. The program involves members of multiple teams, including environment of care compliance, infection prevention and control, nursing, and water safety.
The Excellence in Health Care Facility Management Award recognizes individuals or facility management departments that implement new or innovative programs or processes to optimize the physical environment and improve patient care. For more information about ASHE awards, visit www.ashe.org/awards.
