Our Project
For 25 years, Friend Health has been an irreplaceable source of uplifting the Medically Underserved Areas and Health Professional Shortage Areas within Chicago neighborhoods. Moody Nolan worked with Friend Health and a range of community groups to determine the services that would most benefit the Woodlawn community and welcome them with a celebration of their rich history and diversity. The renovated two-story building transforms a vacant retail complex to present a welcoming facade to the neighborhood that reengages residents in their care journey. The center provides primary care, dental, vision, behavioral and mental health services, and much more. To ensure residents are able to receive the care they need, the facility is certified as a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) that provides a sliding scale and low-cost services to residents in need. Because health is more than medical assessments, it was important to incorporate spaces to allow in-depth group learning.
