Jim Smith, MBA, CHFM is the Director of Engineering & Safety at Rutland Regional Medical Center in Rutland, VT and has worked in healthcare facilities management for over a decade. He is a certified healthcare facility manager, served as a past president of the Vermont Healthcare Engineers Society (VHES) and served as the VT state representative to the New England Healthcare Engineers Society (NEHES) where he was recognized at the 2023 Engineer of the Year. In addition, he is an active member of the American Society of Healthcare Engineers (ASHE) and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA).  Jim has been heavily involved in managing Joint Commission and CMS regulatory compliance requirements associated with healthcare facilities since 2013. He co-chairs the Environment of Care Committee at Rutland Regional and is responsible for managing EC/LS/EM compliance across the organization.
