Facility departments provide value to their organizations in a variety of ways, including keeping the hospital in compliance with codes and standards; reducing the cost of care through utility efficiency; and reducing health care-associated infections by creating healthy environments for patients. The C-suite may not always recognize the importance of the role played by the facility department. This monograph presents strategies facility professionals can use to develop relationships with hospital leaders and show the value of their work. The monograph includes real-world examples of facility professionals who have successfully shown the value of their departments to organizational leaders. By building relationships, highlighting achievements, and reporting metrics related to health care’s Triple Aim, health care facility professionals can become an essential part of the health care leadership team.
