The Use of LED Lighting in Health Care Facilities
by Ganesh Balasubramanian, Mark E. Holter, Matthew L. Petti, Robert D. Smith
Lighting is one of the largest energy consumers in a hospital, yet it also provides some of the most significant opportunities for cutting energy use. Light-emitting diodes (LEDs) offer more light with less energy, little heat production, excellent controllability, and a fraction of traditional lighting maintenance needs. This monograph covers the mechanics of LED lighting as well as relevant lighting applications for the health care setting, including ways hospitals can support healing and improve the patient and staff experience.
